Golden Ball

Round, smooth turnip with yellow skin and white flesh. The turnip has a mild and delicate cabbage flavour, somewhat reminiscent of swede. It is easy to grow and develops quickly; it should be harvested while small. Turnips are sensitive to high summer temperatures and drought.

The quality is best when grown in spring or, even better, towards late summer, when there is less risk of attack by the cabbage root fly. It is advisable to cover the crop with insect netting to prevent attacks from, for example, cabbage root fly and diamondback moth.
